General Programme Outlines:

I currently research, develop and facilitate Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and cognitive behavioural skills based training programmes for specific populations & settings. These programmes for individuals and groups/teams include the following:

1. MBCT for Health & Performance: athletes/sports persons & teams, creative performers, workplace teams, leaders and organisations.

2. MBCT clinical programmes specifically for young people and their carers (funded by the National Institute of Health Research and in collaboration with leading NHS and university centres in the UK). I research and supervise these programmes only and no longer offer clinical interventions to clients on the programme.
3. Bespoke Mindfulness Based Approaches (MBA) & Contemplative Practices underpinned by the theoretical rationale and experiential learning intentions of MBCT, cognitive behavioural skills training and contemplative philosophic traditions for a specific context, addressing individual and or organisational needs regarding health and performance.

Background to the Programmes:

The Health and Performance MBCT training programme has been trialled and studied at two leading UK universities. Since 2017 the programme has been delivered to high performance university, professional, Olympic and
Paralympic, sportspersons, athletes and teams.
Since 2011 I have participated in the research and development of a Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy programme for young people and their carers with depression and anxiety (NHS). The research project has received funding from the National Institute of Health Research (see links to research publications below).

In 2015 I was invited to be an expert witness for the All Party Parliamentary Mindful Nation Report UK and I have presented at national/international conferences.

I have just started to research and develop an intervention for elite athletes with the intention of enhancing high performance and reducing the risk of depression relapse.

I have also provided consultations for, including to date, several innovative digital, early intervention and primary mental health services, and MBA programmes adapted for specific populations.

Before retirement, I worked in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS, NHS) for 30 years, which involved facilitating assessments and interventions for young people to meet their mental health needs.
